To reach its objectives, the Concertation has developed mechanisms of operation:
1) Assure an open exchange of communication and information about obligatory and voluntary mutual insurance mechanisms between the structures or organizations assuring the development, implementation and monitoring.
The tools to assist in this are :
- An interactive website describing the Concertation's current activities, with regular mailings of flash news "flash news
- A periodic newsletter entitled The Concertation Courrier
- Updates on recently developed mutual health organizations in the region (inventory, thematic studies, case studies, etc)(Inventory)
- Organization of sub-regional thematic workshops
- Organization of The Concertation Forum a biannual international meetingForum
2) Act as a go-between for local and national actors in the area of accessing healthcare services who may be eventual promoters of mutual health projects. These actors benefit from Concertation members¿ knowledge and experiences.
3 Educate political leaders so they can better understand how mutual health organizations function and the role they can play in the implementation of voluntary or obligatory mutual insurance systems. The Concertation can assist political actors to develop a strategic vision on how to make healthcare services more accessible.
4 Promote a regular exchange of information on the African MHO movement by organizing a variety of meetings and workshops.
5) Promote and/or energize an exchange between national political actors, social protection actors and the Concertation's national committees the Concertation's national committees.
6 Create a reliable and pertinent data base to diffuse the necessary methodological tools to develop MHOs.
7) Assure participation of MHOs or micro insurance representatives working in the Concertation's geographical zones at the Forum, and with Union representatives and health mutualist federations.
