The Concertation Forums
The Concertation Forum takes place every two years. The Forum is an international conference which encourages a constructive, sustainable dialogue among those working in MHO development in Africa. The Forum also allows partners to compare their country analysis and design similar or coordinated actions (See Forum Actions which are edited and diffused after each Forum).
- The first Forum happened in September 2000 in Dakar and brought together 80 participants from 18 nationalities
- The second workshop was organized in September 2002 in Dakar. Nearly 200 participants from 24 nationalities took part in the workshop which was centered on three themes and 24 oral communications
- In 2004, the Forum in Bamako, Mali brought together approximately 372 participants
Many activities take place during these forums:
- Presentation of studies completed in eleven countries about MHO development
- Specific theme-based workshops on MHOs and other topics identified by actors on the ground
- Different MHO materials exhibited and diffused (studies, documents, articles, teaching and instructional tools etc)
- Film, documentary and photo exhibitions
- Meetings of different partners
As a result of these conferences, a constructive dialogue has been initiated among the different actors. Following the Forum, workshops have been organized nationally to share the information learned with partners and actors in each individual country.
